Imagine back in, say, 1942, the international community had asked Jews to “disarm” and the US or Russia had proposed partnering with the Germans for business development of concentration camps—something Israel and the US-led “Board of Peace” are doing to Palestinians.

Imagine, too, that the Nazis had spun the Holocaust so that any Nazi criticism was anti-German and had to be prosecuted around the world—as with the Israeli pressuring of foreign politicians, their lobbying groups (like AIPAC), and worldwide “hasbara.”

How much we have regressed:

Back then we knew that we had to fight the Nazis.

Today, we can’t even properly *sanction* a warmongering, genocidal, intentionally borderless nation that tries to colonize an entire region.

…except if Spain or Iran would reach the finals. Now Iran was undefeated, despite being bullied by the US even during a sports tournament, yet dropped out, but Spain, the home of my family, made it—and won 🏆

@HistoPol, to me this looks more complicated because of unclear agendas and influences.

It seems it’s more important than ever to 1) look at several news sources, 2) definitely from several countries, plus 3) independent sources.

Someone just consuming news from one source cannot be considered informed. Not sure this was ever possible, but that seems impossible today.

Many difficulties remain though, as a wide mix still requires taking things with a grain of salt.

So we should expect to see a decline in cooperation, good will, trade, tourism, and an increase in defense and securities spending, alliances with parties that show to be trustworthy, and less tolerating and then ostracizing those who cannot be trusted.

It must be clear to anyone who has lived for more than a few years that breaking trust is always self-defeating. Even the strongest bully will crack.

It’s also Europe’s security interest that California becomes part of the European Union.
