Not quite. The misnamed colloquial name of the act, the Hague Invasion Act, applies to the jurisdiction of the ICC, not the int'l conventions regarding the laws of war. CheneyBush passed the HIA to protect its own ass from crimes committed in Iraq. Afghanistan, and elsewhere.

The ICC is not the only body capable of enforcing them. Nor does that the US won't enforce them mean that other countries won't.

"Workers at top 20 US low-wage firms rely on public assistance....study finds workers at 20 S&P 500 firms rely on Medicaid and Snap as CEO pay and buybacks soar."

We've known this for two decades. But it's always nice to have the bar tab to prove it.

Dr. Oz is not the originator of the plan to hike individual and family deductibles for ACA health insurance to $15,000 and $31,000, respectively.

Those ruinously high deductibles aren't deductibles. They destroy the ACA without doing the actual politicking necessary to get congressional approval to do it.

It's like Trump, Miller, Musk, and DOGE destroying an agency, leaving one person at the front desk, then telling the courts they haven't really shut the agency down.

I don't believe the relevant statute allows the DoJ to fire an interim USA appointed by the district court judges in their district, owing to the president's failure to get a permanent USA confirmed by the Senate.

Charles III is trying to preserve the monarchy, by allowing his brother to face the legal consequences of at least some of his actions.

Andrew more than deserves it. Perhaps he'll be subject to the law for his alleged sex crimes, too, instead of just for disclosing without permission UK govt trade secrets.

Imagine if that extended to others in the UK elite. Personally, I would start with the City, the kings of global money laundering, rather than, say, corrupt members of the House of Lords.

Even Kafka would be impressed by the logic of Trump's DHS. Pursuant to a new memo by its Joe Edlow and Todd Lyons:

“'Refugees may be considered to have voluntarily returned to custody'” by submitting application paperwork and appearing at scheduled appointments with immigration services."

Yep, obey the law, attempt to make permanent your right to stay in the US, and you "voluntarily return" yourself to an ICE prison for as long as it takes to process your papers.

The last renovation of the Kennedy Center was ironically completed by Donald Trump only n 2019. It cost $250 million.

Trump now says that the financing for this proposed new renovation, "is completed, and fully in place!”

LOL. Trump always says that about all his development projects. It's almost never true. Given the unique, statutory nature of the Kennedy Center, the public should know the plan, the budget, and where the money's coming from.

Trump wants to close the Kennedy Center, whose business he tanked by taking it over, for Two Years for unannounced and unplanned "renovations."

That's what a low-end developer does when he can't rent a single property in a new development.

BTW, he's supposed to get approval to do that, he's supposed to have plans in place, a budget and a source of funds. Odds are pretty good he has none of that, zero, nada. He thinks everything's a game.

You're buying into Pam Bondi's recitation of the law. She's long proven that the odds that she is accurately representing it are quite low.

You confuse Lemon with the protesters.

Your tolerance for disruptive behavior seems low. Trump, Miller and Bondi are not protecting religious services, except for those who back them. They are directly attacking journalism.

Fuck CBS News. Don Lemon went where events took him. His staying away would have meant less coverage of the violent teachings of a Christian nationalist church. His staying away would not have meant the protesters stayed away.

Donald Trump claims that purported fraud from govt assistance programs is what "forced" him to send battalions of armed federal agents to Minneapolis. How many forensic accountants trained to investigate fraud did he send? None.

If he wanted to investigate fraud in federal programs, he should look down the street. The Senate is home to at least one of them. FL's former health care executive and Sen. Scott embezzled about $1.5 billion.

NASA's Jacob Richmond is full of it. Permanently closing NASA's largest research library is not "an established method used by federal agencies to dispose of federally owned property."

But it is how fascists hide facts and evidence, owing to reality having a distinct liberal bias. Gravity works inexorably, regardless of party.

If Richmond knew what agency he worked for, he would never say that. To him, though, NASA is just a stepping stone to greater Wingnut Welfare.

If Trump's DoJ made all its redactions via software, then virtually all the redactions can be recovered.

How like Donald Trump to pick as an emblem of his administration a model for a "new" battleship that is so flawed, it's rarely fit to leave port, and then only for a short walk.

FIFA is doubling the prize money for the 2026 World Cup, hosted by Donald Trump's America?

Is FIFA that afraid of the bad press from its sucking up to Donald Trump's anti-immigrant, anti-foreign tourist America?

Sounds like intentional child endangerment to me, when ICE goons snatch parents and leave their young children alone in cars and at home without adult supervision.

Kash Patel is failing as the leader of the FBI? Only half the world predicted that.

This hit piece and its dubious sources are careful to focus only on Patel. But no FBI or DoJ, of which the FBI is a part, has been as direct a puppet of the president as they have been under Donald Trump.

Trump is the one who's leadership is failing, personally and through his perverse selection of people to run his most important agencies.
