Social Security Administration just blasted out emails to *all* registrants falsely claiming that the new Cruelty & Plutocracy Bill provides tax relief for Social Security benefits. It’s a fucking lie.

There’s a new per-person $6,000 deduction, starting in 2025, for those 65+, but

1) it applies generally to income *regardless of whether you receive Social Security benefits*

2) there’s a 6% phase-out for anyone w/AGI > $75K ($150K for married couples)

3) IT. ENDS. AFTER. 2028. How convenient.

In the category of Legal Silver Linings, today SCOTUS *once again* reversed the RWNJ-dominated Fifth Circuit (federal appeals court for thanks/LA/MS).

The case has to do with an advisory panel making recommendations to HHS about preventive health care. A unanimous, completely deranged 5th Cir panel held that the task force members had to be confirmed by the Senate (rather than appointed) because they exercise “unreviewable” authority. That’s a load of horseshit. /1
