I just believe that if I had to do over my entire IT life MacOS would be a better start, both as a basic user and as a power user.

Going from MacOs to say, Ubuntu is an easy transition.

When you are in the Windows world, it’s like youre in a Tech North Korea where Bill Gates is King and you think everything everywhere is North Korea and that anything remotely looking like Unix/Linux is America, the great Satan.

They one day you decide something is wrong and you escape and realize.

“Holy sheet…the outside world isnt too bad!

Gratuitous amounts of tits. Great food. And English is spoken everywhere. Hmm maybe Americans and other English speakers are not so bad…”

Next thing you know you’re winning Star Craft and getting a good paying job, wife and a home where you are king, not Bill Gates.

The windows ecosystem is the motherphuqqing Hermit Kingdom of the Tech World built upon many lies. The only thing Windows is great at is making games, just like DPRK is great at nukes. DOS is motherphuqqing North Korean language, and PowerShell is Mandarin, allowing North Korean Windows limited interaction to the outside world of IT, where everyone speaks Linux (English) and there is gratuitous amounts of privacy (tits), bash tool greatness (tits) and self-enablement (food + more tits).

Sure, MacOs is an OnlyFans model wearing a tight nun outfit, teasing you and nickel and diming you for more peeks.

But its way better than having to feast your eyes on a wall flat, hermaphrodite-looking woman soldier in combat fatigues (North Korea Windows).

@anonymous I find the pretty distractions, and walled garden-ness of MacOs do very well in preventing the non-tech user from doing harmful stuff on their Mac endpoint or the network.

Somehow, between the bugs if Windows, and decades worth of internet articles written to suport windows users through said bugs, windows users in the network think an article can turn themselves into a sys admin so they can fix their problem while they wait for the real sysadmin (who is dealing with scores of tickets of other like users as well as those too intimidated to try and fix their own problem).

MacOS users barey deal with this. Linux (even heavily modded linux like MacOS) pwns Windows every day, non-stop.

Really not understanding the obsession with the C compiler.

Is your argument “I bought this computer, so I should be able to installl whatever I want with ease.”? If so, OK.

Other than that, for productivity (fast development, scientific studies, multimedia production, business apps, etc.) I dont see Windows really making a dent against MacOS except when it comes to Games Development.

Windows systems, even in the glory days of IBM thinkpads, just are not as productive as MacOS computers.

Also, beautiful looks and sound matter: productvity of all personality types generally depends on the mood set by their environs, not many normies have the inner autism to crunch through tough stuff in nonideal conditions.

These also fosters learning in young minds.

Macs have higher uptime as well -> productivity due to lack of downtime.

If you terribly want to develop in C on Macs, VMs are a viable option.

I am just not convinced based on the points you put forth that Macs are just “as bad as Windows”. Definitely not the current generation.

Macs are admittedly higher priced compared to Windows and ChromeBooks, but for good reason. Productivity, stability, and synergy of OS with their hardware.

Your use cause and argument is centered around a C-compiler.

OK, let me ask you this.

Youre a well to do tech dude and notice your kids are taking a liking to PCs. They are not read for some OS writing workshop or elite hacker course yet, but you want to give them a computer with as OS that will set them up for life success.

Are you really going to subject them to schitty DOS and endless parch Tuesdays?

Or will you start them off with a pretty OS that lets them create great home videos, helps them with learning music and making ads for their facebook marketplace or other young entrepreneurial endeavours, exposes them to a bash like terminal because real software products are written in Linux, lets you monitor their progress until they are ready to go out into the word on their own where they have to use garbage microsoft office apps in their future workplace (probably).

In terms or versatility, practicality and prepping them (or other lay computer users) for real computing futures, Mac takes all the slightly useful stuff from Windows, exposes them to Linux-like features, and a superior day-to-day computing experience.

You every had to support 100 Windows as helpdesk before LogMeIn. I have.

And half the time I showed up to a Mac desktop user who opened a ticket? They tell me they rebooted the Mac and got back to work and forgot to tell me the issue was resolved.

Outside of Unity and Game Dev and Xamarin, seriously…phuqq Windows. Too many headaches.

I hope they rewrite their whole Os with Rust and kill dos and replace it with PowerShell completely. A powershell that uses all linux like commands.

Come on Satya Nadella, effing do it. Destroy Bill Gates (stolen) os Baby named Dos.

@lonelyowl surveillance sure, but MacOs and apple ecosystem is just more productive. Coding, music making. Not as much bloat. No patch Tuesday downtime. Sync my playlist to my phone watch pc and apple tv.

Better experience I have had than with android/windows

And yeah, hardware matters.
