@evan With Usenet/NNTP every post and reply had a Subject: line like email.

If you wanted to go on a tangent you could edit the Subject:.

For example if it was
Subject: X
you would change it to
Subject: Y (was X)

When threaded newsreaders were created, they would detect these changed subject and although they presented them w/ the original thread, they would mark them as different.

There would be an ASCII art thread diagram with the original Subject: marked as [1], and tangents as [2] etc

Even I failed to notice that I saw your Threads post and responded to it and not the cosocial.ca one. It wasn't until later that I went to read other responses to your post and didn't see mine that I twigged onto it. Sigh.

So in-band (hash)tags are an artifact of the posting client's user interface.

@bowreality It looks to me like you follow #calgary and these posts are tagged thus.

@bowreality If you go to his instance you can see PeerTube lists tags in a more formal way (under a key labelled Tags).

I suspect ActivityPub does not require tags to be in the body of a post and PeerTube does not put them in the post body, which I suspect is the video description only.

I decided to see what Googling my handle would return and after hitting a few on our server I got this URL which seems to be an imperfect mirror of my profile here.

@boris @mick @coop I get that my posts would be cached on many servers due to followers being on those servers so that they can be added into various timelines.

What is much less obvious is having a pseudo-profile of only my posts under a URL like that. Weird

Usually one maximized window with a set of less than half a dozen pinned tabs plus 0 to a dozen regular tabs that I try to close as soon as practical (although I end up ctrl-shift-T re-opening a fair amount).

If I need a number of tabs for one task, I sometimes pull the base tab into a new window and spawn related tabs on that window so that when I'm done I can just close that window.

The odd time I have two additional windows split 50-50 across the display to compare their contents.

@evan Honest answer: I have no ability to evaluate this as I'm not a lawyer, let alone one with experience in the relevant areas of law, but I want to say strong yes.
