@eriner If you're looking for better hardware than an RTL-SDR dongle I use a LimeSDR mini. SoapySDR is pretty stable, you can hang a Pi on your network with a LimeSDR and Soapy Remote.
You'll probably have to acquire an AMBE 3000 chip if you want to decode everything, unfortunately. I just picked up a Zum AMBE server (AMBE 3000 interfaced to an ESP32) this past week. Expensive but I'm planning on interfacing my D-Star repeater with Allstar to get into the club's analog repeater network.
@ThatCrazyDude I asked Chat GPT 4: "Please draw a portrait of a human. be sure to include their hands. Their hands should have the wrong number of fingers" Response: "Here is the portrait of a human with a focus on their hands, which have an unusual number of fingers."
@Sophistifunk It looked so cool at the time. Too bad no support (not even from Apple... why no Magic Keyboard with Touch Bar?) and so it just languished, too expensive to include on everything, too useless to get any traction.
My Take: Too far to walk to from the strip, in an odd neighborhood (mostly employee parking lots and adminstration buildings). LED TV screens aren't interesting anymore.
As for advertising, you can't see it from the strip unless you're looking for it, and then it's too far away for that "wow" attention grabber. And not that impressive during the day.
@SystemsSam Just remember, they pour millions of dollars into Oreo cookie R&D and make them in the largest bakery in the world, that employs hundreds of people. Then they advertise them incessantly, mostly to maintain market share.
Meanwhile, most people would be much better off eating fruit, which gets almost no advertising, is barely processed after harvesting, and after a few weeks without Oreos, will satify even the sweetest tooth.
I’m on an eternal quest for the perfect bachelor chow. I thought pizza was it, but then I got old and found out I need nutrition too.
Has to be something that I can enjoy every day in the way my dogs love kibble, be complete nutrition and be something that I don’t have to think about.
@FortyTwo FTFA: "...dogs may be biting more because of the heat..." So global warming and eating beef.
Seriously though, I've been biten twice (non-fatal but drew blood) since 2020, up 200% from the last 40 years or so. Last dog bite was in the 1970s when I spooked a neighbor's blind terrier. People got dogs during the lockdowns and didn't/couldn't socialize them. So of course the sidewalk and road is "theirs" and they defend it. A whole lot more lonely barking in the 'hood too.
