   @FortyTwo @ReadyKilowatt one of the mum's from my kids soccer team got a pair of chihuahuas as rescues. And sure enough within 15mins they drew blood.

     @FortyTwo FTFA: "...dogs may be biting more because of the heat..." So global warming and eating beef.

     Seriously though, I've been biten twice (non-fatal but drew blood) since 2020, up 200% from the last 40 years or so. Last dog bite was in the 1970s when I spooked a neighbor's blind terrier. People got dogs during the lockdowns and didn't/couldn't socialize them. So of course the sidewalk and road is "theirs" and they defend it. A whole lot more lonely barking in the 'hood too.

     Fatal dog attacks skyrocket since pandemic, bites on children up 25%: studies

     One paper published in the Journal of Surgical Research in August of 2022 found a 25% increase from 2019 to 2020 in pediatric dog bites.

     DogsBite.org, a public education website, found 81 fatal dog attacks in 2021, the most recorded in any year by the CDC.

     The founder of the group, Colleen Lynn, said that many of these dog attack fatalities are women in households with three or more dogs.
