Carsten Franke (carstenfranke@mastodon.social)'s status on Saturday, 18-Jan-2025 21:33:55 JST Carsten Franke @dansup no to VC, but at the same time you and all the other developers should be decently paid. It is shocking with how little money you all build the Fediverse. It should be normal for us as users to donate a few $ every month to keep this going.

Carsten Franke (carstenfranke@mastodon.social)'s status on Friday, 17-Jan-2025 01:36:54 JST Carsten Franke @Infoseepage oh, no worries, a lot of people suddenly dying with flu like symptoms will be a good indication that a new pandemic has started, and the CDC will catch that rapidly within 2-3 months.

Carsten Franke (carstenfranke@mastodon.social)'s status on Sunday, 29-Dec-2024 08:33:53 JST Carsten Franke @Infoseepage from what I read, the current #h5n1 only binds to cells in some odd tissues in humans, thus the eye infections seen in dairy workers. Once it adapts to humans, as seen in the Canadian and the Louisiana cases, it seems to attack many more tissues and lead to severe outcomes. It has had severe outcomes in most species it adapted to. So I am very concerned...

Carsten Franke (carstenfranke@mastodon.social)'s status on Wednesday, 25-Dec-2024 19:35:48 JST Carsten Franke @Infoseepage @GMIK69 with a lot of farmers I see the attitude: I know what I am doing and I do not want the government to impose any regulation on me... And we now see the consequences. At the moment it seems to be confined to dairy cows, I wonder how long it will take to adapt to a respiratory cattle tissue and a more classic flu transmission path, so that it can thrive in even more cattle...
