@Infoseepage The massive poultry operations are a huge viral reservoir: only for this reason the vaccination should be implemented, with all other measures (surveillance, testing, biosecurity). Taken alone, these measures are not sufficient to protect the industry and the human health. Remind that H7N9 was on the brink of pandemic when a combined H5/H7 vaccine was deployed with 90% reduction in spillover events. Bangladesh has also a good record on this field. The US exceptionalism harms.
@Infoseepage Short life span chickens, very weak immune system (due to use of growth accelerating additives), high density: the perfect organism to propagate H5N1 or other hpaiv. These animals are so weak the even a little amount of virus is enough to kill them all, due to their extreme genetic homogenity. Obstinate vaccines refusal is proving deadly...
@Infoseepage It will follow the fate of Californian cows: 100% of infection rate. Since the USDA ''stockpile poultry vaccines'' but does not intend to use them... The Kingdom of Folly.
@Infoseepage Unfortunately, as LA wildfires showed, US governments are unable to cope with disasters, whatever are their origin. Cows are valued higher than humans and politicians act consequently. Luckily, at the time of CJD cow epizootic in the UK there was not yet Biden / Johnson / Trump ideology!
@Infoseepage The virus is airborne: a stream contaminated with dairy farm sewage may be a source of infection, as well as a dairy industry discarded product spilled untreated in sewage. We do not know the mode of transmission, but past experiences saw sewers as source of many primary respiratory pathogens.
@Infoseepage Yes, yes! You make me remind the case of a former Italian minister that - the first days of covid19 pandemic (its epicenter in Lombardy Region) - drank a coffee in a Milan bar, only to end in hospital with the severe pneumonia. He reassured people that going out freely was completely safe. Then the things went badly wrong.
@Infoseepage Yesterday CDC published a refurbished OneHealth plan for zoonoses prevention and control, not that this thing will speed up distancing measures between poultry/cows/pet birds from people, especially if vulnerable. Local authorities are too much involved in protecting business to disturb with orders.
@Infoseepage I have highlighted the ''weapon selling'' apparently without reason: avian flu viruses (H5, H9) are enzootic in Middle East, where currently is ongoing a carnage in Gaze: people lives in extreme unsanitary conditions, hungry, in the cold, humid winter season, eating the few chickens they are able to rear. A good microbial soup to grow a pandemic strain. But our Great Sleepy Imperator just granted several billions to a serial killer.
@Infoseepage Disturbing development, indeed. To note that US has not released data on human cases recently, whereas a poor country is doing testing and communicating the results to the world. California most recent update dated back December 23. The State of Exception of America is dangerous for global health safety.
@Infoseepage It would be a concern to have another clade 2.3.4.4b reassortant with the ability to effectively infect mammals. Especially if the virus should eventually land in the US...
