CDC lost completely its credibility since the covid pandemic response and now with this farcical birdflu crisis mismanagement. USA spent trillions in weapons but nothing for health safety of its people. In this precise moment, children in Gaza are freezing to death! Thanks Biden!

@Infoseepage Yes, similarly those cafeteria employees early this summer that developed flu-like symptoms in a poultry farm where farmers got infected. Circumstances of exposure are always lacking and no MMWR epi-report have been so far described in depth the events. In past, CDC was much more active in investigation, research and publishing about emerging infectious diseases incidents.

@Infoseepage Indeed. It might be someone employed in cleaning or disposing of cows' corpses or a veterinarian. This lack of clarity is the paramount of official/media communications since the beginning of the outbreak in dairy farms a year ago.

@Infoseepage The trouble is that I do not see any sign from US authorities, now and especially in future, that a mandatory vaccination in poultry and farm workers will be implemented to reduce the overall viral load. So our direction is towards a flu pandemic.

Why does US not vaccinate birds?

@Infoseepage Even the Dutch H7N7 outbreak had initially conjuctivitis cases, then a veterinary died of the infection and nearly a hundred of people caught the virus too. We are unable to predict the true outcome of a H5/H7/H9 flu pandemic despite intensive studies about the reconstructed 1918 H1N1 hypertoxic virus.

@Infoseepage I am not sure on the reasons behind the apparent low number of severe cases (partly because the lack of transparency of US authorities, especially al local level). I think that genetic constellation of current viruses is not yet fully permissive of an effective systemic infection, that eventually drives to severe and fatal outcomes. N1 might play a role but current knowledge is limited. Past pandemics hinted at NA role in attenuation of infection, but no certainties.

@Infoseepage When finally WHO will manage to sort out the samples, we will know the nature of the problem: usually they await just after Xmas of New Year Eve to say something disturbing about a disease.
