A reminder: a TikTok ban is still dumb, bad, and fundamentally aligned with pro-authoritarian, anti-free speech impulses.

I have a vague feeling it's going to be a tough case to win, but perhaps if the DOJ does, it will mean good things for right to repair and open standards...or perhaps it won't change a lot

I thought it was bizarre when the Democrats started to pick up the TikTok ban, because that was Trump's shtick.
And now Trump says he doesn't want to ban TikTok, though only because he would rather censor Meta. Broken clock right twice a day and all that.
