But my main point being that RSS is not meant for *talking about content*, but for *consuming content*. It's impossible to get information from Mastodon the same way RSS can do.

@dalias @stevenroose @LisaKalayji It does comments. But yeah it's true. But that's the point. There's other platforms that could allow you to comment and interact on the content. But the point of rss is just to get content in a very structured way. What you do with the content afterwards is another scope.

They have 230 million and Wikipedia costs 2 million a year to maintain (quoting a Wikipedia editor in link below). So they have 100 years worth of server uptime. They are mostly "investing" in other Wikimedia products but fundraising primarily on Wikipedia. While Wikipedia doesn't need money, their other, way less popular, products do.

#Fedilab is getting worse and worse in the last few months. The thread view is totally messed up. You press a comment in your home timeline and you get brought into a thread where it's impossible to find back the comment you actually clicked.

Also, the thread view often has the OP and many comments duplicated somehow.

And just now, the context menu button to share a post etc disappeared and I just can't find a way to share a post to an external app 🤷 what's happening?

@clacke @markusl Yeah Dutch only has one too. Though we use egoist and egocentrist as different things. Or at least I do. I understand egoism a being more about actions one takes and egocentrist more about thoughts/views one holds.

@alex Yeah I'm banned from various places too. Or the instance I'm on is. Apparently talking about bitcoin can get your entire instance blocked by some people. I couldn't really care too much about those kind of people though. I mean it's unfortunate, they'll come around eventually.

@FranckLeroy @jr I agree this is what most of "crypto" is. But it is definitely not what #Bitcoin is. Not the idea, not how it began and I believe also not how it has become.

I think most Bitcoin users hold Bitcoin more as a savings instrument, a little akin to holding a stock index fund or gold. While many ofc dream of wild returns, most are happy enough to not get robbed of the 10-20% inflation every year, not fuel the economic system we have today and not have to interact with banks as much.

@jr @FranckLeroy It works quite well on the long term. Which is where most fist like euros fall short.
