This year I want to learn to compose music for my #MSX games, so I decided to start with the fundamentals and learn basic music theory.

I've never studied music (except for one subject in secondary), there are many new concepts and it's fascinating.

I'm rediscovering the joy of learning something novel. We should never stop learning, it's an incredible feeling.

@aral I'm curious how you became invested in accessibility. For most of us there's usually some event or person that opens or eyes, and then we can't stop caring about it anymore

@aral yes, same for me. I do miss those about the Netherlands, but I do prefer the welcoming culture of Ireland (at least until recently)

Not sure if you experienced it too, but being an immigrant in the Netherlands, even a highly qualified one, it's tough

I normally put those utilities under $HOME/bin and I have a $HOME/local for more complex tools (needing config and so on) basically the same as "/usr/local" but only for this user

Why does surveillance capitalism have to taint all the fun things?

I'm hoping the new #RaspberryPi5 will run smoothly all the MAME games that previous models struggled with, maybe even 3D games such as Tekken.

Even simpler games like Puzzle Bobble 4 don't run smooth on the current hardware out of the box.

I have to get one to give it a try.

TIL you can exhaust the call stack of an #MSX by not returning from a subroutine and using goto instead... or by using RETURN <line number> where that number is not on the body of the calling block.

Something that is basically impossible to do work modern languages.

I also learned that such stack is about 84 levels deep

@aral if it makes you feel better, they almost rejected my pre-approved mortgage because I resigned to get a new job that was paying 20% more.

And if you are a freelancer is another nightmare. I can imagine the same logic (or lack of thereof) applies to non-profit
