@agnes I think you got to be a bit more generous on here about hashtags. Unfortunately they are essential to search here and they are kind of a blunt tool.

Sometimes when I'm posting here or on Pixelfed, I feel like I'm doing magical incantations hoping to hit on the right combination of words to reach more people. Sometimes you need to post variations of the same hashtag.

But I agree when I see someone with a WALL of hashtags, I tend to steer clear. That is annoying.

@AustinB I used to use NK when I was writing in academia. I never heard about TK until now - nice to know I accidently did something other people did!

@agnes I heard his interview on "The Ezra Klein Show" and I was struck by just how normal, down-to-earth, and openminded he sounded. It felt like a normal conversation - not a walking set of talking points. He even was willing to say "I don't know" and to ask curious questions. Not that my opinion matters that much but I really like him.

@mimarek This is fascinating. I know that people talk about X all the time here blocking things but it is another thing to see it in a photo. Only the anti-Walz posts are able to be messaged.

@mariegardiner One of my favorite Yiddish words is kibbitz, which means to give unsolicited or unwanted advice 🤣

@w7voa I recently listened to Gov. Walz interview on the Ezra Klein show and I was struck by precisely what you said - he seems personable, down-to-earth, and genuinely curious. He seemed to want to have an actual conversation as opposed to lecturing or getting his talking points in. He reminds me of a lot of people I grew up with in rural upstate New York.

One thing that helped me was making sure that I am pulling it taught (but not too taught!) in the same direction consistently. And I try to rotate the direction I thread the binding in as I move up (so I go up and out in one direction, and then down and out in another). I feel like that helps the binding be balanced.

I also found using a good linen thread is important for Coptic. It is not as vital on something like a pamphlet stitch.

@dana_cz Good work! I know this is probably not the answer you want but my original teacher told me that with Coptic stitch and similar stiches, you kind of just learn how to get it right by feeling and practice. I feel pretty good about Coptic now, but when I do cross-stich binding (two threads that weave in and out), I feel like it is always too loose. But I have many poor quality Coptic books sitting at the bottom of a box!

Might want to post it on the Bookbinding subreddit for advice.
