I used to love August when I was school age, and loathe September. As an adult, it's the other way around, although dislike is more apt than full-on loathing. That comes too at times.
It's a heavy pressure cooker month when bad stuff kicks off, but you feel that you should somehow be enjoying yourself more than you are.
I'm craving those cool misty September mornings and autumn beginning to hove into view. It's like someone takes the lid off the world and allows it to breathe again.
After a few days here I'm really happy with my decision.
It feels a much more supportive and encouraging place. It also feels less passive, as if we're shaping our own community not having it moulded by algorithms or owners.
My original intention was to leave my X account with a link here but I think even doing that means some form of accommodation with the platform and what it stands for. So I went on today to deactivate.
I'm so glad there's an alternative with a very different ethos.
