@grahamperrin @sidereal @howisyourdog @bedast Here's a video I watched yesterday; roughly speaking, the captions were accurate maybe half the time, nonsense about 40% of the time, and wrong ten percent of the time. Does that not count as substandard accessibility to you?

You transcribe, so I assume you're not hard of hearing. Does anyone in this thread actually rely on captions, or is it just hearing people debating what's good for D/deaf and hard of hearing people?

@gregdavis Okay, I mis-spoke. I shouldn't have said "I'm asking," because I don't actually want @avdi to do or say anything in particular. I was just defending myself from his accusation of disingenuous behavior.

In my original reply I was expressing frustration at a pattern I've seen before, and hoping that my comment would add helpful clarity.

But really, Greg: "sea lion" accusations are generally not constructive. Please find another way to say you think someone's being too demanding.

@Lylamehta This is a good summary, but I don't agree with this part: “Every human is born into a valid and legitimate knowledge system”, from Sabelo J. Ndlovu-Gatsheni. I've never seen a completely valid and legitimate knowledge system. They're all imperfect, they're all contested, and they're all used by somebody to oppress somebody else. We can decolonize without idealizing pre-colonial systems.
