I like that view, but I'm more inclined to believe they just can't accept people not being subservient and worshipping them. They get upset and angry when people dare have criticisms, and expect everyone else to respect their fragile male egos *or else*.

@fediversereport I can see "the fediverse" as a microcosm of the Internet itself. If you think about it we already have a single shared I formation framework - html, css, javascript... And initially sites were very similar and now we have a bunch of walled gardens built around communities.

I worry we'll see the same with this, communities making their own instances and software that then start to become private... Anf we have a mini-Internet in the big Internet (the innernet?).
