"By embracing source-available licenses, Redis aims to foster a more inclusive and sustainable ecosystem"

How is switching to a non-free license "inclusive"?

@anarchopunk_girl Can we finally start using the term "adultism" in political discourse in parallel to racism and sexism?

@esm Just like Discord ruined the word "server", GitHub ruined the word "fork".

@didek @esm Forking means having a schism in the project -- one group of people stays in the original codebase, another goes to work on a new *forked* codebase, and both codebases proceed to diverge.

On GitHub, however, forking means creating a personal development branch, frequently meant to be merged back into the original codebase. Not a schism.

@malwaretech Expanding credentialism will exclude vulnerable groups from STEM even more.

Getting a degree requires a considerable amount of privilege, a lot of money and expendable life time. If you're a minority it also means withstanding a lot of abuse. The more time you have to spend there, the less likely you're to get through.

Ideas "X education should be mandatory for everyone" sound good, but are usually actually terrible.
