@ntnsndr 👀
Is there some FOSS (or even proprietary!) software that does this?
I want to communicate to people who don't like to create accounts, they're like this:
* people want to hear about events (improv, Zumba, etc)
* they WILL sign up to a mailing list
* but they will NOT "create an account"
For an example, Substack does this for newsletters! You can "sign up to a newsletter" before creating an account (but Substack is not events-focused)
is there any "no account / mailing list" service that ALSO does events?
by "does events" I mean
* offers to add events to their calendars (sends an .ics file attachment?)
* sends reminders to events they RSVP to
the other day I asked @buttondown to add ics support (to allowlist it as a valid attachment) 🤓
I’ll try it! I think that’ll get me halfway to what I want
@derek ugh
@jimcarroll @mimsical ????
If you’re comfortable enough to host anyway that’s great!
I felt conflicted suggesting people don’t host haha — but I estimate roughly it’s like 1% of ppl are devs and 1% of devs want to self host things ?
so very few people would want to, and the intimidates a lot of the 99% I’ve talked to so that’s what I was speaking to
