@thomasfuchs You know what I mean, this is not a fediverse server, aka you do not actually agree to any terms of use with it, it just sucks in your profile and makes you available for the unmoderated space that is Bluesky, just like most people don't want to be visible to the unmoderated space that is Meta.

A LOT of people on Mastodon has fled Twitter and Facebook due to harassment campaigns that naturally happen in places that put profit or ideology over moderation.

This discussion is about consent, online safe spaces and online privacy in that order and none of these things has any connection to if the protocol used is open or not.

It is such a white tech bro (not you, the developer of the bridge) attitude to not care about consent by forcing an opt out model (which is illegal in the EU. I foresee him being forced to adjust things soon...).

Repeat after me: Instance Block is a FEATURE not a BUG. And small servers do fine. The instance I am on have only a few tens of members. Many of the people I follow run their own server with only themselves, or their family on them.

In fact, I recommend never being on an instance with more than 150-200 ppl on it, because that means you can have a personal relationship with your admin and moderators.

@thomasfuchs are you sure a lot of those aren't from Instances a lot of other Instances have blocked due to insufficient moderation practices etc?

Because the Fediblock is a feature and one of the best parts of Mastodon.

Unless you are on a special interest instance (art, punk rock, whathaveyou) my advice is to be on an instance with 200 or less users.

Having a semi-personal relationship with your admin is a HUGE boon. IMHO, of course.
