Just finished watching 'THE BLACKENING' on the #Roku channel and it was FUN!! I think the horror/comedy genre is hard to get right, so I won't really fault it for being a better comedy than it was a horror movie. 🍻

The beating heart of a FOSS project is thus typically a small number of user-contributors who "fall into" maintainer status and continue to do so because, well...someone's gotta do it. These people chart a future that's relevant to their needs, but the door is usually open for other people with other needs to make things happen. The source is open, after all.

For example, I cared about #Owncast on #Roku, which wasn't a priority for @gabek . I persisted anyway, and he was happy to let me. 3/?

I'm very happy to announce the v1.1 update of the #Owncast #Roku client. This new release supports curating your own personal list of favorite streams as well as badging to show which are live. Huge thanks to @tgpo for pushing us over that final yard to get it published!

Today I started working on the foundations of skipping back and forth through playlists - which includes tv seasons.

#DisneyPlus is supposed to be the best way to watch certain content, but it’s really not, especially if you use a variety of devices.

An example is, I’m watching #Daredevil for the first time ahead of #Echo S01. So far I’ve watched it across three different devices: a modern #RokuPremeire on a #4K #TV, an older #Roku on a 1080p #TV, and my main #Windows10 computer.

This show is supposed to be in #4K, with #HDR and #DolbyVision, yet it only appears in full quality on the #4K #TV. Even on my PC I’m getting this dishearteningly grainy and compressed image.

Unfortunately neither #Netflix nor #Disney made #4K #BluRay discs for any of the seasons, but I’m starting to think that a #BluRay would be a better way to watch this show than #DisneyPlus, despite the fact that it technically has the show in #4K.

The #Boxee remote had a full querty keyboard on the back years ago. I don't get why all remotes don't have this, especially #Roku. Searching still sucks on televisions.
