Can anyone recommend a managed #Nextcloud hosting provider for a 25-50 user instance including #CollaboraOffice and #Talk#HPB; ideally based in the EU?
@fu#TOTP is the proper way of doing #2FA, your mobile device (or local computer, see my script at f.haeder.net/2fa.sh ) stores the secret keys, no mobile number needed. #Nextcloud provides TOTP, by notifications (accept/reject) and by email. If you don't enable it, someone only need to guess your password and can login. Here on my instance that person won't come far, including that my password is unique here.
#Hetzner offers #Nextcloud as a service (called Storage Share) with a 1TB of storage for only €5.11/month. That's a really nice price for a privacy-respecting, Europe-based personal #cloud. They also offer a 1TB of just storage for 3.89/month in case you already have an instance of Nextcloud and want to expand its storage capacity.
"Did you know a third of people who abandon a survey form do so because they worry about privacy and security? We understand, pretty much all those forms are hosted at Google or other, data-vacuuming services. Well, we have good news to you surveyors! We just made Nextcloud Forms available for installation."
#collaboraoffice is excellent free alternative to Googles collaborative office technology, its based on Libre Office technology, #collabora is the largest contributor to #libreoffice and does a lot of other good for #freesoftware . You can install it super easy if you have a #nextcloud instance, or if you use a nice cloud host, or for no charge if you want to learn some systems administration and use your own hardware.
UGH, whole afternoon wasted...I believe an extreme solution is called for here. Delete my #Nextcloud from my server completely and just dump all of my files onto a separate drive for backup (leaving the originals on one of my hard drives of course).
@kaia On iOS I used the #scanning feature of the #Nextcloud app - better for scanning than everything I used before! But unfortunately, this feature is missing in the Android version of the app. I am currently stuck with the proprietary app ClearScanner - barely usable behind #pihole.
I've been using #Syncthing for the last year or 2 on my #Windows computer and #Android phone, but I recently moved to #Linux. So naturally, I need to redo everything.
Not that I am necessarily looking for something else, I live Syncthing, just because I am going through the effort. Does someone else recommend something similar?
I currently don't have the setup to create a #Nextcloud instance. Thus, Syncthing was a great solution. I just want to see what else #opensource has to offer.
13/ I built my own LAN, at first with 10Base2 (Coax/thinwire) Ethernet. I set up email servers and FTP servers and telnet servers in my parents' house because I finally could!
The great expansion of Linux ought to have led to a generation of doers!
But instead, makers are a minority. Even with projects like #FreedomBox and #Nextcloud, people don't go there.
