#Lemmy has thread structure more suited for longer discussions. If #mastodon is like #twitter , #lemmy is like #reddit
@apps @NiemPseu like, #lemmy communities, normal #fediverse way, same as from any other #mastodon , #lemmy etc app? Or something else?
@NiemPseu @apps does it work with accounts on #lemmy and #kbin servers?
Lemmy ask you anything!
The #Lemmy devs held an AMA this week, answering a large variety of questions from the community. I wrote about some of the themes in their answers, and how the developers think about Lemmy, the fediverse and community.

I'm officially addicted to the #threadiverse. I've been on my Lemmy instance all day just browsing communities.
I'd love to build a better #lemmy frontend UI for it though. If no one has already started on one.
The #fediverse version of #reddit r/place open #canvas on #lemmy has just ended and it looks beautiful!
To those who don't know: Each logged in user is allowed to place one pixel on the canvas per minute (or 30 secs? don't remember exactly) and a lot of users took part in creation of this!
Here's a lemmy thread about it: https://lemmy.world/post/2791182
An AMA (ask-me-anything) with the creators of #Lemmy is happening right now —
Can anyone with extensive knowledge of #activitypub explain how interactions between #lemmy and #mastodon work? For instance, does #boost and #favorite do anything for the Lemmy side of things? And how do I post to Lemmy from mastodon with decent format?(if possible)
Thanks in advance!
Edit: @Lifecoach5000 posted this video which helped a LOT!
@dansup the whole unique premise of #kbin having magazines is just dumb. The interface is shiny, but I find it far more complicated. Regardless, it doesn’t even really matter for me 90% of the time anyway because I have several apps that represent the #Lemmy data in a way that looks almost identical to #Apollo.
The website interface is not going to drive the win or loss of a platform, it is the users, the content, and the app ecosystem.
@MediaActivist
Hmm, not encouraging
Are Lemmy servers supposed to have individual rules and focus?
eta: meaning that it might be possible to have a good #Lemmy experience?
Uh oh. My more recent experiences with #Lemmy and by proxy #Kbin are becoming increasingly like they were with Reddit (not good). What's the deal with that? Why is the discourse I find on #Mastodon so much more positive and productive than there? Is it an influx of ex-Reddit users bringing bad habits and negative energy with them? Is it the actual software; the format; the layout? What is it? #Fediverse
Nice article on the #Fediverse and #ActivityPub by @karissabe in Engadget. Found via our Press Coverage #lemmy group. Crowdsourcing yeah!
P.S. Karissa: get your Fediverse handle listed on your Engadget page?
#Azorius is a new part of the #threadiverse started by Ted Unangst (@tedu) of notorious #Honk fame.
It is already federating with #Kbin (https://azorius.net/g/tech@kbin.social) and #Lemmy (https://azorius.net/g/linux@lemmy.ml)
It is written in #Go and is under active development (https://humungus.tedunangst.com/r/azorius/h)
:fediverse: :fediverse: :fediverse: the #fediverse continues on!
So something I've seen recently that perhaps demonstrates the lack of good platform interop here on the #fediverse ...
Over on #lemmy the source of the most #mastodon posts for me is a hackernews bot that is posting hackernews posts, which, sometimes, are links back to techy mastodon posts. That is, hackernews (+ a bot) are bringing in more mastodon content than ... mastodon and activitypub.
#Lemmy core devs running an AMA on Monday, 7 Aug, 1500 CEST

Generally, I think it's valuable for people to be able to get to know their platform's devs and their admins better. So I think this is a pretty cool idea.
Threadiverse growth is slowing, but still strong, together they represent the 3rd most active platforms behind Mastodon and Misskey!~
Congrats to the #lemmy and #kbin projects, long live the fediverse!
#Lemmy is kinda hard to use these days because of all the instance outages.
Still hoping one day Fedi can transform into a more distributed protocol, not with users and communities registered on fixed instances, which go down all too easily. Usenet basically did this 40 years ago, so can't we improve on it...
