The problem with LVPOs is the same with any variable power scope. Either you have a FFP scope and the reticle gets too big to be useful at high magnification, or you have a SFP scope and all the nifty reticle doodads are only good at max magnification.

It's a training issue, yeah, but it's just one more thing for Murphy to get involved with when people are shooting at you.

There are some fully electronic scopes that fix all that by getting rid of the actual optics completely and just going to electronic zoom. That's probably the future, but didn't really exist yet when the Army started down this path looking for a new rifle.

The drone thing... I don't think ANYONE has figured out how to solve that yet.
