Does it seem like #PCgaming is getting lost in #Microsoft's new push for cloud and AI crap?

I don't want a cloud, or a thin client, or Copilot, or any of this stuff. I just want to download and play my games, increasingly *without* an internet connection (like on a Steam Deck, traveling, etc.).

How viable is SteamOS for desktop PCs? 😆

A year ago I posted this asking for help to find my community college daughter an internship and I got the best responses from so many people here!
Well I wanted to say thanks to #Mastodon and the people here again, let you know what happened and give back by sharing some tips.
My daughter ended up getting many offers - she did two internships at Stanford and ended up turning some down!
So here are the tips:
- Do the research on the labs and write directly to them, sharing your story
- Make sure your story is personal- my daughter talked authentically about why she wanted to join their lab specifically and what inspired her
- Don’t give up, keep following every lead and if they don’t take you first time, they’ll be impressed if you keep trying! My daughter got in on her second attempt in one case.
