> the phantom cigarette thing is real.
On most of my adventures, I’d be reading books that aren’t strictly there. Literal meaningful sentences, page turning touch/sound … but then shift position and the book is gone.
> … buddy went to climb steps. nope. glass coffee table.
I keep trying to rest my feet down on the non-existent footrest.
> … everything looks real
The hallucinations are mundane and normal looking. The room will fill with smoke, say, and it’s just normal smoke. It goes away, but comes back again a few minutes later. The coffee cup that isn’t really there just looks totally normal.
By contrast, though, datura sounds a lot more persistent; one can tell pretty easily the dramamine is wearing off, and there’s not much of a bone-chilling lingering that sticks with you. The “nothing is real” feeling is also less intense. All in all, it’s milder.
