@chud @Deplorable_Degenerate @Faelyn @dever @Glassjaw @pepsi_man Gotcha; yeah that’s right, there are more than several high-profile instances wherein Eastern Bishops assert the Augustinian-based take on Original Sin - this being one of them. Since it can’t be denied this pops up quite frequently throughout Church history, it probably serves a higher purpose than what can easily be gleaned from a surface reading.
I know the Council itself was called in response to Protestant innovations having begun by that point to influence Bishops - so it makes sense in that light why they’d desire a strong stance against refusing infant Baptism. But Ancestral Sin (rather than Original Sin) has generally been the Orthodox take that I’ve encountered being asserted amongst the Orthodox Saints. Pat. Dositheus II isn’t Glorified in Orthodoxy with the title “Saint” - though he‘s broadly respected as a lower-case “t” theologian.
