If you want what was a decade ago considered a normal, non-fancy position, you now need a degree for that. And the uni will not proper you for that kind of position either. After you graduate, you can throw away 85% of that knowledge.
IT is one of the last sectors, where actual knowledge and certifications matter more than a paper from some random uni.
