I've taught three children in my school career who have had something I might define as dyslexia; each manifested in different ways, but with help were able to continue learning without anything *special* more than adjustments that were easily manageable within the classroom.
But I have taught many whose parents begged for a diagnosis of something that would get their children an amanuensis or support of some kind (which they didn't need) for *reasons.*
