I had this debate with a friend the other day when she was berating the lack of special provision in scribing in further and higher education. My take was that if you've got that far and still need an adult to scribe for you, perhaps it's not the right place for you.
Children with dyslexia and disabilities who are bright enough to go into further and higher education will have also been smart enough to figure out the means of using technology to aid them. This can be accommodated at most colleges without the vast *support* infrastructure that just devolves into the *I want help because I'm special too* circus.
People with real and profound disabilities (which in my opinion are the only cohort that need support) are losing out to the (mostly) self-diagnosed toddlers with special feelings.
We need to stop telling children that adulthood is just a continuation of childhood where other adults can be bullied into moving heaven and earth for their needs because they demand it.
