A lot of people are in a cult, and they will stay on some imaginary "team" regardless of what it pushes, and no matter which "team" "wins", the people running the game win. Politics is basically just reality TV, to distract the masses. Anyway, the people resisting the system today, even having the exact same positions that they have today, would have been labeled as "left-wing" in the 2000s. Hell, a lot of people supported Trump for the same reasons that a lot of people supported Obama.
