My entire tech career in managed services (working at one company that provides a service for another company) has been an exercise in dodging or short-circuiting Management-By-Metrics.
There is no status code, no HOWTO, no wiki article to explain why I spent 30 minutes on a call listening to the customer complain about how our salesman sold him something that doesn't exist.
So no, boss, I can't account for all of my time. But I will happily nigger-rig your reporting system to make it look like i did.
