EdBoatConnoisseur@Pawlicker @Suiseiseki @MK2boogaloo it is the whole tool composing vs integrated tool, rar was innovative back in the day when it came to integrating all the functions of more traditional utilities (ar/tar, split+cat, gpg/mycrypt), meanwhile other formats embraced the unix style composability, the only format that embraced the idea of an integrated archiving and compression tool WHILE keeping composability in mind has been 7z (as far as i know)
