Then again, if I have to pick a side between the catholic church and the "witches" I'm exposed to often (the reddit feminist witch kind) I'll 100% side with the priests and participate in the burnings, because those "witches" are hostile insane assholes that hate me and my people for no wrong committed. Purging those bad actors is a necessity among pagan communities, because they paint a target upon the whole group, in the same way purging evangelical fanatics is a necessity for the christians.
In any case my argument about old and new covenant wasn't about old gods, it was specific to the old covenant of abraham and moses, as pertaining the jews, and its deprecation after repeatedly going against it. If you have no interest in that afterlife, you can simply disregard the whole thing.
