You can still write cursive with a standard cartridge Biro, it just doesn't flow as well.

I'd still recommend learning cursive. The Palmer method is the classic American method and the guides are really easy to follow (quite literally for schoolchildren)

You might think it's useless for you but I guarantee you'll have to write something one day and if you have shit handwriting the other person will get annoyed at you.
