I had a friend 10 years ago who was running for mayor of his town in Texas. He was already on the city council and something happened too the mayor of Wautaga, TX (I don’t remember what).
My friend became the mayor for a minute (protempor) = temporary mayor.
He asked me for advice on how too win the mayoral election. He didn’t listen too anything I told him. He lost the next election by a handful of votes.
