they basically pack the case with power cell bombs to get the all day battery life, cut the rest with graphite blocks to be passive heat sinks, and make up the difference by underclocking. so they have 3-4 ghz processors permanetly running at like 1.4
then they advertise it as a "turbo boost" which basically means its a 3ghz that dies when the thermal throttling sets in
same thing some NUCs do; they sometimes get reviews like "i can play a game for 30 minutes!" and i'm pretty sure that's because they saturate their heat sinks & pathetic active sink at that amount of workload
