@dansup @pfefferle @pixelfed @Gargron @Mastodon to be pedantic, AP is based on the pre-existing OStatus, of which Mastodon wasn't even the primary implementation. But when AP was published, Mastodon was among the first if not the first functional implementation to switch over, and effectively “defined” a number of aspects that the spec didn't make clear, in addition to independent APIs.
