Catholics, especially Jesuits, have been trying to bring that stuff back for hundreds of years, as well as incorporating foreign religions and philosophies. Christian Hermeticism, Christian Platonism, and Christian Taoism are syncretisms that have been held by cardinals and high ranking bishops for hundreds of years, obviously while attempting not to stretch past the limits of dogma. Same with early Patristic retrieval, and they do it in a far more natural, plausible way than the Mormons.
