Some of the Obama era stuff couldn't be rescinded because it literally gave people new rights. An example was DACA. Obama's team basically said, "Tell us if you came here as kids illegally and nothing will happen to you; here are some papers."
This is a grant of "equitable entitlement." Imagine if, after Lincoln, the next president rescinded the emancipation proclamation. You're now taking away a granted right. (that particular point is moot since that proclamation didn't actually free all slaves and Congress passed a real law not long after, but I digress).
It's a Pandora's Box, and should really be beyond the limits of executive power. It's the same with the Obergefell decision. Even if you're for marriage equality, it should have come from Congress and not the Supreme Court. Justice Alito has a very well written dissent about it. Laws should come from legislation, not from the executive (that would make them a King) or from Judges.
