Loans with reimbursement of interest coupons paid to citizens were issued to nudge society towards the direction they wanted— get women back as homemakers having more babies and help families in the process. It wasn't just pulling imaginary feel good numbers out of their rear. We know that because it worked. They had an unprecedented economic recovery with industry that held despite a global recession. It wasn't going to last forever, but it wasn't designed to. It was designed to be a defibrillator to a nation in cardiac arrest.
