@sun @feld @tk One time a friend with a seaplane was giving me a ride to pick up my airplane from a whope where it was painted. On the way there he saw a river basically in the center of Austin and said "let's splash down". So he landed there then took off. The shores were all built up with houses and I asked if it would not disturb people. He replied that he lived at a lake like that (only in a cheaper part of town), and "trust me, boats are 5 times as loud as this airplane." Admittedly he had a Rotax 912 engine that had a decent muffler.
