I'd say this is spot-on. Anyone who knows and loves Austin can see it's not actually healthy, it's more like it just has all these metastasized real estate developments. The whole city is pockmarked by landmark businesses that were driven out by rent increases and nothing took their place. The buildings stand empty, covered in graffiti and weeds and fenced off to keep bums out while they build a brand-new luxury condo with retail on the first floor right next to it.
