There's a lot of cool stuff we don't do because it's gross, but something as simple as changing how septic tanks could possibly allow for DIY harvesting of some of these for a small to medium scale farm. You could certainly get enough to take care of a few acres between this + manure and possibly have more left over for black powder for your own munitions for defense or hunting.
