I understand that. I am just confused as to why people continue to hamstring themselves in terms of activism.

I feel like it's the baseline response to everything that anyone tries to do, because it's the safest assumption and means you don't have to get off the couch or support a cause. I am sure he doesn't mean it like that but it's reminiscent of boomer takes which get under my skin like nothing else.
