I light a candle, which conveniently fits in a part of my console sufficiently distant that it causes no problems.
Using said burning candle, I use it to light one of these stir-sticks - which I then use to light the pipe.
I find the trick to using it a bunch of times is to lightly dip the extinguised tip of the spill in the wax melt pool - which facilitates relighting without wasting too much wood.
The whole arrangement scratches all the right itches.
