By a crew of anti-civ gender nihilists, who basically took over the talk and turned it into a shouting match till people just gave up and people left or kept arguing till exhaustion)
!!!~However~!!!
at some point within a few years after that interaction, she had changed her stance around trans people, having talked with a lot of trans feminists and indigenous trans people about trans peoples role in the patriarchal capitalist system of reproduction and the role of trans extermination in colonialism and genocide.
She's gone on to name and include trans women in her analysis of global capitalist patriarchy and the sphere of reproduction in talks she has given
I had a chance to ask her directly about how her analysis and framework has changed wrt trans women at a talk she gave several years back, and her answer (summarized) was that she had come to see the oppression of trans women as being a central component of patriarchal reproduction, and that that trans women occupy a position not unlike the lumpenproletariat in the realm of reproduction. She also connected the reaction against trans people globally to the modern day witch hunts, and to how restrictions on abortion and transness seem to go hand and hand. It was a very welcome answer
Some follow up conversations after are where my view that many pre-capitalist modes of reproduction involved implicit material bonds of what we might now call (with a limited framework) solidarity between women both trans&cis +non-binary peoples in the forms of maintained knowledge basis of medicines and capacities to navigate body changes of all sorts, given that almost all of the techniques for inducing hormone and bodily transformations also can modify any hormonal effect, such as controlling menstruation, modifying fertility, inducing abortions, or easing elements of menopause, not to mention literally everything else hormones regulate; and that this is why so many trans women are priestesses of fertility goddesses or have sacred roles similar to that of "wise women" in many indigenous social orders; and thus, that rupturing this social form bonding mutual flows of support is always implicitly part of the colonization and ethno/genocide of social orders by patriarchal capitalist modernity (and is part of the dynamic process of modernities construction that creates/produces the divisions between trans and cis women)
Truly I think we see echo's of this, I mean, a nontrivial amount of trans women are abortion dulas. Now if only we could convince more cis women to also be transition dulas....
(No more sister wars!!! Death to patriarchy!!!)
