Maybe not to the degree that he was confronted with the carnage personally, but to be fair, that's politicians in general. They usually get away with what they did. He saw it as good for Germany. Everyone around him thought it was a good idea. And pre-WWII, even the United States, Sweden and other countries had programs in place to prevent the "undesirables" from breeding. Pre-WWII, much of what we now consider nazi propaganda was 100% mainstream and acceptable.
