That was my experience as well. Catholics were fake Christians and general Chick tract type stuff. I believed all that, and 25 years ago I'd have been on fedi calling Catholics heretical Pharisees with the best Protestant 💩 posters. I still have a hard time sitting silently and accepting ignorant declarations from people (in the abstract, NOT related to anyone in particularor to this discussion) without at least trying to politely explain why they're misinformed. FWIW, I've had nothing but awesome conversations with @SuperLutheran and he's answered a ton of questions for me regarding Luther's views and why traditional Protestant beliefs arrive at specific conclusions without ever being rude or belittling. I'm at the point where all I want to see is a restoration of the remnant of real Christians as the dominant voices in their respective churches. Nothing for denomination wars matters to me, provided my beliefs aren't being misrepresented by people who claim they know more than me about what I believe (this has happened too many times, and again is not about this conversation).
