Moving the goalposts: leaving everyone else alone is a form of pacifism. This allows people doing crazy bad stuff to keep doing it.

Do we leave Ted Bundy alone? There is a good argument for it, since he preys on the credulous, but you lose the ability to exist without constant vigilance.
